How I Lost $400 to a Cupcake: How Overeating Wasted My Time and Money (And What You Can Learn From It)

Updated: Apr 14

Chocolate cupcake in a small terracotta pot, decorated with pink rose-shaped frosting, resembling a potted flower. A fun visual representation of indulgence and emotional eating.
I told myself it was ‘just one’ cupcake. $400 later, here we are.

I paid $400 for a cupcake

I wish I was joking.

But the other day, I was thinking about something wild…

Back when I used to overeat, I spent HOURS every week thinking about food.

🧁 Should I eat the cupcake?

😩 No, I shouldn’t

🤯 Ugh, but I want to.

🤦‍♀️ Okay, I’ll have half.

🥴 Welp. That turned into three.

😔 I failed. Again.

And that’s just one food moment.

I did the math once (big mistake).

If I spent 5 hours per week in this cycle and my time is worth $80/hour…I was throwing away $400 a week just obsessing over cupcakes.

And that doesn’t even count the money I wasted on last-minute takeout, the gym memberships I never used, or the healthy food that went bad because I swore this week would be different.

The worst part? I never got that time (or money) back.

I don’t do that anymore. Because I found a way to stop overeating—for good.

Now? I just eat the cupcake (or not) and move on with my life.

And I want the same for you.

If you’re tired of the constant back-and-forth with food—like when you feel out of control after you’ve eaten a whole bag of chips or gone on a sugar binge that leaves you feeling sick and disappointed, then I want to help you.

Next Tuesday, I’m hosting a free webinar called “How to Stop Overeating for Good… Without Feeling Bad” (aka “The Food Fight Fix”).

In this webinar, I’ll show you exactly how to:

  • End the battle with that annoying voice in your head that says, "Just one more bite" (even when you're already full).

  • Stop feeling guilty after you eat your favorite foods—whether it’s chocolate cake, pizza, or that extra scoop of ice cream. No more beating yourself up.

  • Feel in control of food—so you can enjoy what you love without worrying about how many calories are in it or whether you’re “ruining” your diet.

Imagine never feeling guilty after eating a slice of cake at a birthday party or stressed about what’s in your grocery cart. Imagine not feeling like you’ve failed every time you eat something “bad.”

If you’re ready to stop the endless back-and-forth with food—like treating pizza like it’s a forbidden treasure or sneaking extra snacks when no one’s looking—then join me. I’ll show you how to eat with freedom, not fear!
